health is wealth; useful and simple health tips.

It seems like there is a new study every day about health presenting scary medical news. Figuring out how to stay healthy can be really stressful, and we all know that stress isn’t healthy. Fortunately, there are lots of simple ways to boost our health.

      1. Sleeping on your left side.

You may not think it matters which side you lie on when sleeping, but today I am telling you how you lie plays an important role in your sleep and health. Talking from my experience, each time I sleep on my right side, it’s always ended in heartburn. Meanwhile, it is totally a different case when I sleep on my light side.

Studies also show you are better off sleeping on your left side. This position improves blood flow to your organs, helping the spleen and intestines work more efficiently. There is also a big gain for heartburn sufferers, several studies also found that sleeping on your left side apparently reduces heartburn which I can testify to.

        2. Don’t brush immediately after eating.

Since we were kids, we were probably told to brush our teeth after every meal, it turns out that is not such a great idea. Acidic food or drinks and even healthy foods like fruits and vegetables are often very acidic and can make your tooth enamel soft. And this raises the risk of tooth damage with brushing. A better idea is to wait for 60 minutes after a meal to brush our teeth.

       3. Avoid bright lights before going to bed.

You may be the type who likes to relax before bedtime by reading, watching videos or playing games on your tablet or mobile phone. Unfortunately, even if these things are relaxing, they can prevent you from sleeping soundly.

It is the blue light produced by all our electronic devices, any kind of bright lights at night interferes with the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps us sleep. Several studies have linked exposure to bright light at night to increase of several forms of cancer, heart disease and obesity.

Some preliminary proof, suggests lower melatonin levels may increase the risk of cancer. If you like to read, a paper book is better than an electronic reader. But if you have to use something with a screen, a pair of amber-tinted or 3D glasses can reduce the blue light and help you sleep better.

You know the feeling of having a bad day and someone attempts to help by telling you to look on the brighter side or stay positive. If you find this annoying instead of helpful, you are not alone in this.

Studies have shown positive thinking provides only a marginal improvement in the mood of those with high self-esteem. Those with low self-esteem actually felt worse probably because there is nothing more depressing than a fake cheer when you are having a lousy day. Many people actually felt better when making a list of negative things about themselves. This may be because once you have identified your faults, you can work to improve them.
