1 Of The Best Ways to Get And Keep Fit.

Since the lockdown, many of us have put on some additional pounds and some of us gain it whatever we do. There are ways to get and keep fit without ever having to step into a gym or join a group and that’s what we’re going to explore.

1 Of The Best Ways to Get

1. The work commute

The majority of the population prefers to get to work quickly and home quicker and that usually means relying on transportation, but there are benefits to taking a long journey without the use of cars or buses.

Hold that groan because walking and/or cycling to work not only helps you keep fit but it also improves mental stimulation and thus, improves mental health. Whichever approach you decide to take, walking or cycling your way to and from work ensures a better way of keeping fit than taking transport.

2. Take the stairs

If you work in an office block or building that has elevators, go against the status quo and start taking the stairs. As daunting as it sounds, taking the stairs not only helps you keep fit but also improves your cardiovascular and respiratory muscles.

This is a great benefit since it decreases your chances of developing numerous health-related concerns like heart disease and chest infections. It also helps build up the muscles in your legs and lower back, making you less likely to suffer from back problems.

3. Create a home routine – even if you’re lazy

You don’t have to work out for an hour or go running the length of a football pitch to keep fit. In fact, all you need is five minutes of intense exercise a day to keep yourself healthy. Believe it or not, you can get a lot of exercises done in five minutes and all you need is a bit of floor space… and probably a shower afterward.

Take a look at this for a five-minute workout: 30 jumping jacks, 30 push-ups, 30 lunges, 30 squats, one 30 seconds plank, run on the spot for 30 seconds, and, between these exercises, take 15-second breaks.

It may not be a thorough five minutes but it keeps your bodily functions in shape and your muscles from atrophying (going flabby). And, you don’t even need any equipment to do these exercises since they use natural body weight to achieve.

4. Look what’s on your plate

Do you opt in for takeout for lunch because it’s quick and easy or do you dip your hand into the office snack box due to boredom? Either way, pay close attention to what is on your plate and going into your body. It’s not all about exercise when you want to keep fit.

In fact, there’s a saying in the gym-sphere that’s 20% gym 80% diet. Now, that doesn’t mean you should go on a diet but it does mean you should watch what you put into your body. Eating too much saturated fat, sugar, and/or salt can have a negative impact on your body and your mental health. Keep fit by learning about foods, what your body needs, and how to junk eat in moderation.

5. Body composition

One way to keep fit is to learn exactly what your body needs and to do that you’re going to need to learn about your body composition. Body composition tells a person a lot about their metabolic rate. So how can you tell what your body composition is?

Here goes: if you’re apple-shaped and put on weight easily you’re what’s called an endomorph.

If you can eat lots and struggle to gain fat or muscle and you’re compared to a garden rake, you’re what’s called an ectomorph. And, if you’re middle of the road where you put on muscle but not a great deal of fat and have to watch what you eat, you’re the mesomorph.

Learning more about these body compositions will help you tailor your diet to your metabolic rate and that helps you keep fit.

Lastly.

If you implement these strategies into your daily life you should get and keep fit no matter how old you are or what you do in life. You don’t have to look like Kai Greene to be fit. Being fit isn’t about being ripped or athletic; it’s about keeping your body in good condition.
